The Medical Intelligence International Think Tank based at the Department of Sociology, Catholic University of Sacred Heart, Milan (IT) aims to provide a structured and comprehensive examination of Medical Intelligence by defining it explicitly in terms of its methodologies, analytical tools, and relevant legislative frameworks. While acknowledging the absence of a universally fixed definition, the study adopts a flexible working definition that can be adapted to the specific context and objectives of the analysis. Such an approach allows Medical Intelligence to be examined as a dynamic and context-dependent discipline rather than a static conceptual category.
In this framework, the research seeks to establish and promote a clear understanding of the role and application of Medical Intelligence in support of national security, both at the domestic and international levels. Attention is given to its strategic relevance in anticipating, preventing, and managing health-related threats that may have security implications across borders.
Furthermore, the Medical Intelligence International Group conducts in-depth analyses and research on the use of Medical Intelligence through a multidisciplinary lens, integrating intelligence studies with technological, communicative, social, and medical perspectives. This pluralistic approach reflects the complexity of contemporary health-security challenges and underscores the necessity of cross-sectoral analysis.
Moreover, the Medical Intelligence International Group aims to promote methodological and operational expertise by identifying and evaluating the most appropriate tools for Medical Intelligence research and analysis. In doing so, it contributes to the development of robust analytical practices capable of supporting informed decision-making in the field of national and international security.
